Second Saturday Trip
Swildon’s Hole – Approach Passage Round Trip
Duration – 3 – 4 hours.
Location – Meet at Upper Pitts at 10:00.
This is a “sporting round trip” consisting of traversing high above the Swildon’s 2 streamway to the bold step into Approach Passage.
From here, a route will be taken past the entrance to Abandon Hope, down the 12m climb and back to the streamway via Howard’s Dig.
Please note that Approach Passage lies beyond Sump I and thus passing the sump will be necessary.
No special equipment is required, although a belay belt is recommended for the ladder pitch.
You may also want Cow’s Tails for the bold step.
The trip does involve a number of free climbs so a head-for-heights would be helpful.
A goodwill fee is payable to the landowner (£2 per person).
