DESCRIPTION:Longwood Swallet\nDuration – 3 – 5 hours.\nLocation – Meet at Upper Pitts at 10:00.\nLongwood is an extensive cave in Longwood valley.\nThe aim of the trip will be to visit the upstream galleries and the downstream streamway – one of the best streamways in the country.\nThe trip involves a few squeezes\, a couple of ladder pitches and an interesting traverse.\nNo special equipment is required\, although a belay belt is recommended for the ladder pitches.\nEveryone will need a CCC permit\, available on-line for free at https://permits.charterhouse-caving-company.ltd.uk/pages/conditions

DESCRIPTION:Swildon’s Hole – Approach Passage Round Trip\nDuration – 3 – 4 hours.\nLocation – Meet at Upper Pitts at 10:00.\nThis is a “sporting round trip” consisting of traversing high above the Swildon’s 2 streamway to the bold step into Approach Passage.\nFrom here\, a route will be taken past the entrance to Abandon Hope\, down the 12m climb and back to the streamway via Howard’s Dig.\nPlease note that Approach Passage lies beyond Sump I and thus passing the sump will be necessary.\nNo special equipment is required\, although a belay belt is recommended for the ladder pitch.\nYou may also want Cow’s Tails for the bold step.\nThe trip does involve a number of free climbs so a head-for-heights would be helpful.\nA goodwill fee is payable to the landowner (£2 per person).
