DESCRIPTION:Two trips on offer this month\, both with volunteer leaders. \nEastwater – Regent Street\nDuration 3 – 5 hours.\nLocation – Meet at Upper Pitts at 10:00.\nTim Rose (tim.rose2@gmail.com ) has kindly volunteered to lead a trip to Regent Street in Eastwater.\nThis is an interesting trip to a part of Eastwater that is not visited very often.\nPlease note that it is a fairly hard trip and involves a couple of moderate squeezes (although nothing tighter than Hallelujah Hole – which you’ll do on the way in).\nNo special equipment is required\, although a belay belt is recommended for Dolphin pitch.\nA goodwill fee is payable to the landowner (£2 per person). \nGB – A visit to the Sump\nDuration 2 – 3 hours.\nLocation – Meet at Upper Pitts at 10:00.\nSas (Sarah Watson) has kindly volunteered to lead a somewhat easier trip to GB.\nThe route will include Mud Passage to the Bridge\, through the oxbows and down to the main sump\, returning via the waterfall in Main Chamber.\nNo special equipment is required but everyone will need a CCC permit (available on-line). \n

DESCRIPTION:Wookey Hole – Wookey 24 and the Land of Hope and Glory.\nDuration – 2 – 5 hours.\nLocation – Meet at Wookey Hole Car Park at 10:00.\nWe have lined up three Wookey Hole wardens\, who are happy to take people to either Wookey 24 or the Land of Hope and Glory. Due to the access agreement\, we will be limited to 18 cavers and will need to provide a list of the caver’s names to Wookey on the preceding Monday (3 rd March). Therefore you must email me (caving@wessex-cave-club.org) to reserve your place\, also let me know whether you would prefer a trip to  Wookey 24 or The Land of Hope and Glory. \nFor those who aren’t familiar with Wookey:-\nThe Land of Hope and Glory trip takes about 2 to 3 hours and fairly straight forward. There is some very interesting geology and the terminal rift is very impressive.\nWookey 24 is a much harder trip that will take 3-5 hours. The trip involves descending a series of narrow rifts for some 70m (these are very energetic on the return) until you emerge in the Wookey 24 series. From here it is possible to visit the Wookey 23 and 24 sumps\, the divers camp and undertake a refreshing swim around Sting Corner. You will need to bring Cow’s Tails as there is stapled climb and high level traverse.\nBoth trips will undoubtedly involve a post caving Ice Cream (weather permitting).

DESCRIPTION:Duration – 3 – 4 hours. \nLocation – Meet at Upper Pitts at 10:00. \nThis is a “sporting round trip” consisting of traversing high above the Swildon’s 2 streamway to the bold step into Approach Passage.\nFrom here\, a route will be taken past the entrance to Abandon Hope\, down the 12m climb and back to the streamway via Howard’s Dig.\nPlease note that Approach Passage lies beyond Sump 1 and thus passing the sump will be necessary. \nNo special equipment is required\, although a belay belt is recommended for the ladder pitch.\nYou may also want Cow’s Tails for the bold step.\nThe trip does involve a number of free climbs so a head-for-heights would be helpful. \nA goodwill fee is payable to the landowner (£1 per person).
